AMEC has signed a contract with PGE EJ1, a subsidiary of Polish state-controlled Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA, to support over the next 10 years the development of Poland’s first nuclear power plant.
The contract will be worth £39 million to AMEC for the required scope of work initially, rising to around £255m if all optional work is undertaken over the 10 years. AMEC was named preferred bidder for the contract in July this year.

“There is a real drive in Poland to develop a thriving nuclear industry. There is a growing public acceptance and approval and the Polish government is firmly behind the programme, so the future looks extremely positive.
“AMEC has more than 60 years experience in the nuclear sector and this contract will allow us to apply all our skills at the forefront of developing Poland’s nuclear programme while also helping to establish new industrial and engineering capability in the country.”
Specific services such as support in integrated proceeding, licensing and permitting support, engineering support, site infrastructure, vendors and supply chain oversight, safety culture, quality assurance, management system, contract management, PMO, capacity building, training oversight and testing & start-up will be provided by AMEC, who will employ three companies as its sub-contractors, WYG International Sp z o.o., TÜV Rheinland and AT Kearney Sp z o.o.
